Good Shepherd is close to our home but we do not attend there partially because it is very VERY conservative. No one talks prior to Mass, and people who do have been shushed by those around them.. There is little feeling of community; few people hold hands during the Our Father, and no one goes out of the way to welcome the stranger or newcomer, although the ushers say hello as they hand out bulletins on the way in. There is little eye contact and it's not a welcoming moment. We tried for an entire year to attend, contribute, and be part of the community. I was somewhat involved, but for my husband, it was belong to the Knights of Columbus, or forget being involved. He's not interested in the Knights, so he was out of luck. The new church is truly beautiful, but the beauty was overshadowed by the sense of alienation we felt, even after an entire year. We now belong to another parish.

  • I joined this parish in late December. I am amazed at what this parish of 500 families does! they were the second largest group attending the March for Life in DC in the entire Diocese! the second Sunday pancake breakfasts are crowded, and the fish fry dinners during Lent are massive. This is a very active parish with participation from the very old to the very young. We could be a bit more welcoming to guests before the Mass, but that is a small part of what makes a congregation "Church" and this congregation is "Church". I am proud to be a part of it.

  • Great parish to be apart of! Good Shepherd Catholic Church is one of the most welcoming and friendly parishes I've been to. The building is beautiful and the congregation has grown considerably in recent years.

  • The poor review on this church is unfortunate. We have been parishioners of this church for over three years and right from the beginning we have never felt more welcomed by a church. Is it perfect? Of course not but I have to say that it is a church that has a lot of good people and a church we are proud to call our parish.
